My Sweet Sibling Memories and the lessons learnt #siblingstories

I am happy to board the  blog train #SiblingStories hosted by Ila Varma in collaboration with the Brand  Ang Tatva . Thirty seven  esteemed bloggers from blogging fraternity have joined hands to participate in the Blog train for #SiblingTalk reviving the sweet and tickling hours spent with loving siblings and revive golden memories of the past. I thank Kalpana to introduce me in this blogtrain. Kalpana Manivannan, a former Biology teacher is now turned an urban farmer who loves her farm as much as teaching and blogging. You can read her sibling memories here . As I get the chance to be a part of the sibling stories , my mind starts flying in the childhood memories when I and  my brother together with all our cousins used to act crazy , laugh like mads , eat together like bhukkad , play for hours together and even fight like real enemies . And you know what our games used to be ? Actually neither there were any mobile phones or playstations nor we were fond of watching TV . Our games...

Who lifts your spirits ? #tuesdayphotochallenge

The theme for this week’s #tuesdayphotochallenge is Lift . Here is my take on the theme . His mere presence is enough to lift my energy level , enhance my mood and bring a smile on my face . His belief in my abilities motivates me to work with greater strength . His warm love , care and support have the power to make me free from all worries and feel like a child again . He is the one who always lifts me higher —right from lifting me up in his arms when I was a child  to  lifting my spirits  even today .  That special person is none other than my  Dad . Love you Dad !! Me with my Dad . We took this pic on 26 Aug 2018 on the sacred festival of Rakshabandhan   [tweetshare tweet=”Surround yourself with the people who are going to lift your spirits .” via=”no”] Have you ever thought who is that person in your life who  lifts you spirits ? Please reply in the comments below .

Cousins by blood , Friends by choice #HappyFriendshipDay

As The friendship day arrives , I am reminded of all the lovely friends who have been a part of my life . From school to college and now some of my colleagues –all those friends have been  an important aspect of my life . Some of them are cute , some crazy , some are like  angry stuff and some are funny. Friends are so important in our life . And there are some special friends whom I  know since birth  and these are the ones who loved me yesterday , love me today and for sure would love me  forever . These special friends are my  Cousins . Yes  ! We are cousins by blood but friends by choice . Dear all cousins , you make my life worth living . I love you all ! Where should I start writing from ? The very first moments which unfold  in front of my eyes are the times when I , Nitu , Gitu would wear lehngas and dance for hours together at any family function , be it a small birthday party .  The music to our dance used to be given by Munish Bhaiya on his drums . That small birthday p...

Spreading Smiles - Meri Smile Wali Selfie

Well I like to click pictures but I  am not  the kind of person you can call a selfie queen . I do like to click occasionally , especially when I am on a holiday or I am dressed up for some party . And you know,   my smile is part of my personality and obviously it is there whenever I pose for any picture . Any of my pictures,   which is by chance  clicked without a smile , appears so dull to me . I think one clicks a selfie only when one is really happy . Below is one of my smile wali selfie   which I love and  cherish . I took this selfie last year in June 2017 when we went on a holiday trip to Nepal .  The girl with me in this picture is neither any of my relatives or friends . She was a stranger to me until we clicked a smile wali selfie together . Actually we had hired a bike for one day in Pokhra , Nepal for local sightseeing . The weather was so pleasant ; I and my daughter were feeling the winds on the rear seat of the bike  as my husband drove on the hilly roads of Pokhra cit...

Yes ! You are beautiful as you are ! Be Yourself O Woman ! #BlogchatterA2Z

BE YOURSELF O WOMAN ! Woman – whom God has given the role of a creator , makes the first definition of beauty. The womb where a seed finds its place to settle, grow and get nourished , is beauty . The placenta which develops to provide oxygen and other nutrients to the baby inside , is beauty . The umbilical cord which connects your and your baby’s soul , is beauty . Yes you are the creator O Woman ! Nobody else has been given the power as beautiful  to form a  baby from a tiny  seed . You are beautiful as you are O Woman ! And please never ever doubt this , even when some others do . Be Yourself . Talk to yourself daily in the mirror ” Yes ! I am beautiful as I am “ As a woman , you play many roles in your life and live greater number of responsibilities than men . But still sometimes you feel low , the reason may be the daily household stress or some harsh  pointers  thrown at  you being a ...

# X-Factor : What's your X-Factor as a woman ? #BlogchatterA2Z #Astitva

X stands for X-Factor X- Factor is a noteworthy special talent or quality , It’s an attribute beyond description , something which makes a person unique . A piece of fiction on “X-Factor” At the age of 62 , Today when I was being awarded with “Pratibha Puraskar ” by the district social club , I overheard someone saying ” That lady has an X-factor in her which makes her so special” . The term X-factor took me in my past . The only rosy part in my married life was that I got blessed with two beautiful daughters . To live with their father always was a task that tested my patience and quietude . I never knew my Art College degree would be wasted in such artistic roles like dusting , washing or just  cooking . I was happily playing all the roles of a maid and was sometimes  even being  treated   like the one , although my  official tag was that I was a Home Maker. One day one of my friends Ravita happened to call me after a gap of many years , As s...

#Nuptial Knot - Sometimes the bond becomes bondage #BlogchatterA2Z

N stands for Nuptial Knot Nuptial Knot relates to marriage when a boy and a girl are united together by a Knot , in the hope that this Knot creates a love bond between them and unites them for lifetime . They share their happiness , sorrows , ups and downs equally . A girl’s marriage story Hi , My name is Priya . I am a single child of my father . I am writing it as only father because God took away my mother when I  was very small . I am thirty five years old now and working as a teacher in a school . I would take you to my past first and then bring you to my present ,  and then would ask you to suggest about my future too . As I told you , I was a single child of my father. I have always been a dark looking girl but my friends said I had a bright intellect . Since childhood , I had love of reading  and writing , writing  short stories was my passion and I still have a diary full of my penned stories . Unlike other girls who start dreaming of tying Nuptial Knot just after ...

#Love - The purest and eternal form of Love is Motherhood #BlogchatterA2Z

L stands for LOVE Motherhood is the greatest form of Love on this earth . The love which is pure and eternal . I think only a mother can feel how it feels to be a mother . God has gifted every woman with this wonderful  bond of Love . Thankyou God for the  gift of Motherhood (I am a Mom to a daughter who is eleven years old now .   Today I want to share  about  what I love about my gift of  Motherhood ) After I got married , I had to undergo abortion even before I celebrated my first anniversary . It was certainly depressing  but after around one year more , I conceived again . Since the day I saw her as a seed in my first ultrasound , I am in Love with my gift of motherhood . From that ultrasound  day to the day I delivered her and till today , I can feel the love rising . Her smiles are so real and hugs so pure that they automatically bring smile on my face , in my heart , in my soul . I love to care for her , even worry for her. You can read the post I wrote on my abortion  When she...

A Letter to my Unborn Child

Within first year of my marriage , I had to undergo abortion.  It was followed by the feelings  of sadness, pain (more of sentimental), loss  and regret. A   loving bond  with my  unborn child that  had started nurturing , had to breakdown within  few weeks . Today I express my emotions  in this letter to my Unborn Child. A Letter to my Unborn Child  I held you inside me for few weeks ,but didn’t get a chance to hold you in my arms.  I felt your heartbeat  inside me , but couldn’t  welcome you in the world  outside. God didn’t give us a chance to cuddle  with each other , but  the memories of your little movements inside my tummy  are afresh in my mind.  Your little kicks didn’t hurt me but used to bring smile on my face. We were growing our emotional bond when God suddenly changed his plans. We were not allowed to continue our love for long but the bond we made even in those few weeks  , is  precious for me , and  it always would be. When Doctor la...

She loves to Dance , But would she have to Bury Her Dreams ?

This post won the WOW badge from Blogadda Megha is married to Akash for the last 12 years and they are blessed with a son Madhav who is now 4 years old.  Having blessed with parenthood after  many years , Akash is too possessive about his son and is always concerned about him . Sometimes his over concerned attitude shows few signs of narrow-mindedness, which Megha  doesn’t feel good about . But she has adjusted. She  gives priority to his home and family . Megha had a love for classical dance in her college  ,  which she couldn’t continue after her marriage. Last year when  she had turned 39 , she had shared about this interest with Akash and asked  for permission to join a dance academy.  But Aakash had refused on the pretext of their baby  being too small . This year , when Madhav has started going to school , Akash agrees about Megha pursuing his dance interest, but  asks her to make sure this doesn’t happen at the cost of the time and care their baby needs. Altho...

My Family is my real wealth - Let's celebrate #gratefulness to our Family

Once again I take out some time and reflect on how fortunate I am. Today  let me express my #gratefulness to my dear family. First of all I feel grateful to my loving parents who brought me in this world. In this big universe , my own little world meant my supportive Dad, caring Mom and a friendly teasing brother. Being the youngest one in the family used to be an advantage to  me whenever I and my brother had a fight . Remembering those times still bring a smile . I am thankful to my maternal aunts, uncles and cousins with whom I had the best of the times in my growing years . The days of togetherness during summer vacation used to be daily celebrations . Even a simple birthday party at home felt like a big function in the family , planning those little games, decorating the house and cooking variety of dishes all at home. I think all this enhanced emotional bonding . I am thankful to my husband and my In-laws family who are equally loving and understanding . I am fortunate enough fo...

The RED Saree #writetribeproblogger

I was wearing the RED , but blushing red SHE  was. I was wondering at  the beauty of the RED saree , but feeling proud SHE was. Actually it was Karvachauth festival and I had worn my Mom’s  RED saree.  It was not an ordinary saree but my Mom’s RED Wedding Saree, the one  she had worn on her Big day more than four decades ago. Watching me wearing her outfit , she was feeling very happy. I could see the extraordinary smile on her face and the radiance in her eyes.  That day, that RED saree unfurled many memories before her eyes. My Mom hinted  Dad ” Did you see what our daughter is wearing today ?” Mom was doubtful if  Dad’s mind would be able to race back in time .  But Dad quickly gestured YES to the memories.  I think they shared many memories of their wedding even in that quick glance at each other, may be some of their honeymoon too which ofcourse they didn’t  want to share with me . Here  I write about their feelings & memories which were  sha...

Why I fast on Karvachauth? #writetribeproblogger

Yes I am fasting today . Today is the Karvachauth festival, which married Hindu women observe for their husbands . Yes I am fasting today , following all the traditions and customs .  But Why I fast on Karvachauth ? Sometimes my mind does doubt about what’s the real meaning of this day and what’s the logic behind. But overpowering my brain, my heart just loves to follow all the beautiful traditions for the man of my life. I am the girl who wears kurtis and leggings in routine, but prefers wearing a traditional outfit  on this day . The girl who doesn’t like wearing any jewellery, loves wearing mangalsutra on this day and feel proud too. The girl who , in routine , is always in sports shoes , is seen sentimentally smiling  to the chanchan sound of her payal  and toe rings. We do have arguments many times, even not talking to each other for days together, but still that love bond remains intact , rather it grows stronger. I am reminded of an incident of my life which hap...

Tomorrow I will go away #writetribeproblogger #writebravely

Today on the first day of #writetribeproblogger,  I wish to write about the  feelings of an unborn girl child. The unborn girl child comes to know that she would  be aborted the next day . These must be  the feelings inside her heart which she wants to convey to her mother .   Tomorrow , I will go away Mom , My heart beats for you and yours for me . We have developed a great bond  in these five months . I can feel you . But tomorrow I will go away . Mom , You know I am just like you , I am a girl with brown eyes and black hair , But tomorrow I will go away. Mom , When you place your hand on your belly and  try to feel me,  cuddle me , I feel so blessed . Mom, please bless me today for the last time , because tomorrow I will go away. Mom , When you sing for me , the music soothes me.  Mom, please sing a song for me today  for the last time, because tomorrow I will go away . Mom , I have been waiting for the day I would be in your arms and you would actually hug me .  Mom, please hug...

What I loved and learnt from #Myfriendalexa : How My Alexa improved in one month

The month of September 2017 went crazy with #Myfriendalexa.  Blogchatter gave my blog  a new friend  #Myfriendalexa  which further gifted me many new friends. Waiting eagerly for the reading list every week was fun and it was more fun to read all the blogs out of the list . Lots of engagements as a blogger, lot of reading, writing and learning. Actually, a month  ago ,  I never knew what Alexa   rank meant. Why one talks of it ? Why one wants it to lower down ? How does it make a difference to my blog ? When  I came to know of #Myfriendalexa campaign  to be hosted by the blogging community Blogchatter , I came to know a little about Alexa. Actually Alexa is a ranking system of sites  done by Alexa.com . This belongs to the company Amazon. The rank is calculated based on how many people visit your site . If the audience comes from someone who already has a good Alexa rank, better it is for your site. As on date , I don’t know the minute details about Alexa ranking and how does it affect...

SCREAM #fictionwriting #fridayfotofiction

#fridayfotofiction is a weekly bloghop which celebrates fiction writing based on the photo prompt. “Mam , I don’t know what the problem is.  My brother Aadi is behaving differently nowadays.  He seems isolated . Most of the time, he just wants to sleep, and  he gets irritated also over little things . ”  Ajay  asked the psychologist. She reacted  too  busy  to listen to  his problem and just advised  ” I think your brother is going through emotional exhaustion . Try to handle him with more love n care . ” Not happy with psychologist’s behaviour,  Ajay came  back home and  tried to find some reason out of his brother’s  belongings .  He got  panic stricken  when he found  Aadi’s  recent  sketches of jumping off from a building , coming in front of a fast train and hanging from the fan. Even before his brain could process what he saw  , Ajay heard a scream from the roof . He quickly ran upstairs but all he could see was  the  blood art sketc...

My Thankfulness for Blogging Contests #thankfulthursdays

When i started my blog a few months ago i would often think how long would i be able to continue this blog,  how could the ideas keep coming, after all the ideas would vanish after writing   40 or 50 posts.  But No, i was wrong .  When you jump into the writing world , the ideas just keep flowing, and for this flow, i am very very thankful to the various Blogging Contests.  Such contests motivate you to  write and read too. You can’t be a good writer if you don’t read. The more You read , more You wish to  Write. Blogging Contests help me in lot many ways :– Blogging Contests challenge  and motivate me   – Contests have a fixed theme and a deadline too. I work the best when given a challenge otherwise my mind prefers sleeping. Such challenges push me and make me realize ” YES, I can do it “. The motivating comments on the posts and the best post badges make me feel like paragliding . I still cherish my #MMM badge for my post challenges of Motherhood ...

Life is a box of experiences

Sometimes , I  feel like Life is a  game  of experiences ,  just  like  that  game of passing the parcel which  the kids play at their birthday parties. There is a box containing the prompt tickets . Each player needs to pick a prompt ticket and has to act accordingly . Isn’t same  the case with Life ? God has created daily prompt tickets for all of us .  You never know which prompt are you going to be given today . Every prompt ticket brings a new experience with it. Each experience has its own flavour. Some experiences are positive, some are negative. Some experiences are fun , some are problematic. Some experiences bring  lot of learnings , some bring adventure. Some experiences are such you feel always thankful for and some you regret. Today I write about the day Life gave me a prompt ticket which read ” Adventure of  River Rafting “. It was my long awaited wish. It was few years back that we went to Rishikesh and decided to stay at a  tented accomodation near t...

Queer Embrace #fictionwriting #fridayfotofiction

#Fridayfotofiction is a weekly bloghop which celebrates fiction writing based on the photo prompt. ” Unlocking Minds ” This was the name of the educational institute where Sammy  was working as a psychologist/theorist for the last few years . Suddenly , he was fired from his job today.  He had to listen to few vulgar insults also.  He sat in a corner , depressed , and analyzing ( sometimes cursing) his queer identity . His queer sexual orientation made him face social discrimination and mistreatment many times. When his best friend Martin came to him  ,  Sammy’s tension found a way for words : “Martin , Am i born in a different way ? Why this societal imprisonment ? How does it matter to the society if i love a man ? I hate  this  bias .” ” But I Love You ” Martin said softly & maturely. “Come, Let’s go to the emancipated world where the minds may be queer but not locked .”  Martin extended his hand to Sammy. The two best...
