How do I become happy ?

Scrolling through facebook posts and notifications today , I came across a video by Sandeep Maheshwari “How to be happy?” The audience is asking that they are busy from morning till late night , working non-stop like robots , getting up early , finishing off domestic chores , working for hours in the office , also spending time for family’s wishes and happiness  , with no time left for self -happiness . This is the case with all of us . Right ? Even after doing all the above listed tasks on daily basis , people can be heard complaining about us-You didn’t do this , you didn’t perform your duty perfectly , you didn’t cook tasty food today ,blah blah blah . We are so much in the grip of the daily life struggles that we are too much occupied with worries , tensions , jealousy ,with hardly any time for self-happiness . Then what do we do ? Well , Sandeep Maheshwari answers – Contentment is the key to happiness . Yes all of us know that . But how many of us have this contentment ? Some of u

My Gratefulness for 30 days of #MyfriendAlexa : #Gratitude #LetusKISS

Starting September 1 , I am taking part in the BIG blogging campaign #MyfriendAlexa and I have been writing my posts under the theme #LetusKISS . KISS is an acronym for Keep it Simple and Significant and I express  my  gratefulness to God who made  me choose this as my theme  I have shared my mind and heart on keeping our Life as simple + significant , and stop unnecessarily making  it Complex . Let us focus more on the aspects which make Life significant , memorable and  appreciable . My Gratitude for Pains and Pleasures  Let us divert our focus from mere collection of  Things to collection of Moments . Let’s live our Life with Mindfulness rather than our minds always full of worries . Let us follow the path which leads to calmness , happiness , cheerfulness. To achieve a special kind of Fullness in life ,  Gratefulness also plays a major part . Gratefulness is magnification of the positive happenings in our life . If we can inculcate  a habbit of being grateful in all the times , t

My Gratitude for the little Pains and Pleasures

Life offers us a lot . Smiles & Cries , Pains & Pleasures , Calm & Crazy , Laughter & Tears , Friends & Enemies . See there is so much variety our life brings for us . This variety of situations & emotions keep the life interesting , atleast I think so . After all, a long drive even on  those ultra smooth roads  doesn’t bring the  thrill out of the heart  unless you have  already  experienced  some bumps or traffic or speed breakers .  Same is the case with our life . We can value our pleasures fully only if we have experienced pains . We can  enjoy our laughter in the real sense today only if our eyes have ever flown with tears of sorrow  in the past . We can feel thankful for the care, love & blessings  of our dear ones  only if  we know how it felt when someone had hurt our feelings . So I think we should be grateful for our little pains and pleasures in the life . Yes  I am calling them little , as none of them is permanent . And above all it is our atti

A is for Author --My journey of becoming an author ; What did I learn during the journey of self publishing my Ebook? #Astitva

Soon after I started blogging , I came to know about Ebooks and I could find many bloggers who had self published their Ebooks . Although I was a newbie but imagining my name on the cover of a book excited me and the thought  made a mark in my subconscious mind . The  desire   of publishing an Ebook was getting intensified and I was getting more and more curious about the what and how of  self publishing an Ebook . Then came the BlogchatterA2Z carnival where every blogger was supposed to write daily in the month of April , starting with the alphabet of the day . A on 1st April , B on 2nd April and so on .Daily blogging was a challenge but  I love when something challenges me ,because  that is the best time to know your limits , push yourself to bring out the best out of you .I decided to go for it and registered for it. But till that time , I didn’t  have any idea what would I blog about .  I explored  a lot of websites to get an idea about the theme  on which I could blog daily . But

Under #blogchatterprojects , I started spreading #bhagavadgita teachings through my blog. Is Your Mind Your Enemy ? ? Bhagavad-Gita tells ways to control the flickering Mind

Our Mind Sometimes our mind is  so cheerful  and the other time mind is full of anger . Sometimes the mind behaves generous and sometimes it is full of greed and lust . Sometimes it is spreading smiles and sometimes it is just passing negative vibrations  all around. We are behaving as per mind’s wish , feeling helpless , having no control over the emotions. So is our mind our enemy or our friend ? The mind is always restless and unsteady . All the time it wants to do something or achieve something . Many times we act as slaves to our mind by fulfilling its wish of certain material desires. But it is so turbulent that it just doesn’t get satisfied and it further wishes something more . Many times we have to serve the dictations of lust and anger . So isn’t our mind our Enemy ? The Unconquered Enemy ?  Bhagavad-Gita says  the following : We definitely need to do something to conquer this enemy . In  practical world it is very difficult to control our mind.  In Bhagavad-Gita  chapter 6

My Family is my real wealth - Let's celebrate #gratefulness to our Family

Once again I take out some time and reflect on how fortunate I am. Today  let me express my #gratefulness to my dear family. First of all I feel grateful to my loving parents who brought me in this world. In this big universe , my own little world meant my supportive Dad, caring Mom and a friendly teasing brother. Being the youngest one in the family used to be an advantage to  me whenever I and my brother had a fight . Remembering those times still bring a smile . I am thankful to my maternal aunts, uncles and cousins with whom I had the best of the times in my growing years . The days of togetherness during summer vacation used to be daily celebrations . Even a simple birthday party at home felt like a big function in the family , planning those little games, decorating the house and cooking variety of dishes all at home. I think all this enhanced emotional bonding . I am thankful to my husband and my In-laws family who are equally loving and understanding . I am fortunate enough fo

5 Best Quotes on Friends -Lets be Grateful to our friends #gratefulness

Friendship……what a lovely bond. Isn’t it ? We experience many friendships in our life right from the day we are born. Our parents become our first best friends , then relatives , then we make many during our school n college and then God sends another very good friend in our life  that’s our spouse. Of course I am grateful to all the good friends I  got to make in my life . But few were the special ones which immediately come into my mind whenever friendship is talked of. I am remembering today my friends which are pure friends , I mean not husband or parents or siblings , but the friends I made in my hostel days. I wish to dedicate the following 5 Best quotes to those friends which have created a permanent mark on my heart. A FRIEND IS WHAT THE HEART NEEDS ALL THE TIME Whenever we are feeling down , sometimes we don’t even know the reason for it , what our heart craves for is a true friend , with whom we can just open our heart and feel light.  That true friend to whom even if you sa

Let's Feel Grateful to Our Home-Where memories are made , laughter is shared #gratefulness

As November started , I adopted a new attitude -GRATITUDE  which means to express gratitude towards life’s offerings; to be grateful to all the happenings in our life –things, good health , comfort, peace , and to be even more grateful to  all those persons who play a role  to make these happen. Today I wish to write , being grateful to my  our home. We  live in Panchkula but the house we live in , is a rented one. Although our home offers all the comforts and brings smiles , my bedroom always brings out the relaxing sighs out of me when I rest on my bed after a long hectic day , but still something is missing . Even after few days of holidaying , when we come back home , the first words which automatically come out are “Home Sweet Home ” . It surely indicates how much comfort , relaxation, ease  the home provides.  Ofcourse I am thankful to my home but still that feeling of  OUR OWN  HOME is still missing. Recently , just a few days ago, I visited my  paternal grandparents’ house, I m

GRATITUDE- My New Attitude in Life

I have been reading and listening about Gratitude and Grateful Living for the last many days . I also wanted to start with this habit of Gratitude .  When November has started , which is the month of Thanksgiving and it’s also my birthday month , so what other time would be perfect to start this habit of Gratitude ? World’s leading scientific expert on gratitude  Robert Emmons says that Gratitude has two key components : Affirmation of Goodness  – That we affirm the good things in the world , gifts and benefits we are receiving in our lives. Sources of this goodness are outside of ourselves- That we acknowledge that other people gave us many gifts , big & small, to help us achieve goodness in our lives. This attitude of Gratitude has to be inculcated in life by some daily practices and habits . Let me also start my journey of Grateful living with my first post today . So to make my birthday month special, I plan to practice these things to cultivate  my new attitude : GRATITUDE
