Reading is to the Mind what Exercise is to the Body

I do like reading but I can’t call myself an avid reader . I keep reading something or the other but I don’t have a big collection of books . Reading does relax me but I have never got very serious about reading as a fitness for my mind . Books do attract me every time and I think that is an instinct I received as a gift in my genes  from my father . He is a literature person , loves reading and has a huge collection of books on different genres . As the year comes to an end , my mind was analyzing  how the  year 2019 went for me . In the process I also made a list of all what i read in this year . I was happy to notice that I read 10 books in this year . That’s a big number for me ! Here is what I read in 2019 In the  year going by , I have always kept some or the other book in my kindle library . Some books were so engrossing that I  finished them  happily while some other couldn’t interest me much and so I left them midway . For the year 2020 I have decided to boost my reading . Aft

HIRAETH - Partition Stories #Bookreview

Alfaaz , Yaadein , Zakhm , Naseeb , Qaum , Jazbaat   Do you relate your emotions with these words ? HIRAETH The book which I am reviewing today is HIRAETH  and this book contains partition stories inspired from true events . The above few words which I mentioned are some  of the stories from the book which touched my heart . A land that was once your own , a home which was once your own with your loved ones but suddenly a division tears everything apart . Families lost their loved ones , houses were burnt by attacking mobs ,leaving  pain and cries everywhere . With  no money left , no house to live in , no food to eat,  people were forced to live in refugee camps , all gripped in the trauma of pain , depression , uncertainty . Every story of the book leaves you emotional and speechless . The story of Shano waiting for her  bhaijaan , story of Veera who got separted from her parents with just her doll left behind , or of Taro finding relief in Ramayana chaupayian , every story  wet

Woman and Society's sabhyata

December 7 ,2019 Before I start , I would like to bring into your notice some of the incidents-little and big . Incident no 1 : Yesterday somebody had posted a video of a wedding  on facebook .  Jaimala was going on and first was bride’s turn . She put the garland around the groom and then touched his feet . There were many comments particularly of men on that video like – Ye hote hain sanskar , Ye hai asli Indian sabhyata , Ladke ki to life ban gyi , kitni sanskari bahu mili hai ….and so on . Incident no 2 : When I was a little girl I think I was in class 5 th , I was travelling with my mother in a local bus . I remember I was wearing a lemon colored  without sleeves  frock with my long hair open . A man , should I say an elderly uncle sat with us and I felt a strange   touch on my arms . The innocent me couldn’t say or explain anything but the only thing I knew was that  It felt bad .That day was my first experience of abuse ,although I  hardly understood the word  ‘abuse’ at

Which Lifestyle and Habits keep me going ?

What kind of person I am ? Before I start writing about my habits , let me write about the kind of a person I am . I am a simple woman –not too much after fashion , brands or  make-up . I am most of the times a smiling person . It’s not that  I do not get angry , but I have observed that my anger lasts only for few minutes . I yell it away and then suddenly my smile is back. I also have the ‘Let-go’ tendency . That keeps me stress free in many situations . Now analyzing all these things , what should I call myself ? Will the word   ‘Easy-going’ be suitable ? ‘Easy-going’ is the person who keeps himself at ease while moving through Life In everybody’s life there are ups and downs , smiles and stress. Not all days are good . But on the same time not all days are bad . And you will agree that some days go very good . When I spent the good days excitedly with smiles , then I should be having enough strength to  move across the bad days without frowns . ‘Easy-going ‘ doesn’t mean that I am

Listening to songs is just wonderful . The beats fill me with enthusiasm , the lyrics  calm my mind , the aesthetic experience  brings me the real happiness My Motivation Song Matlabi ho ja zara matlabi , Duniya ki sunta hai kyun , khud ki bhi sun le kabhi ……. Well it’s a bollywood song which I like , rather it gives me motivation  . Matlabi ho ja zara matlabi, duniya ki sunta hai kyun , khud ki bhi sun le kabhi . Really in our everyday life, we are most of the  times listening to others , feeling concerned  for others and working for others  . Sometimes I am listening to my  Boss, sometimes I am satisfying my hubby’s ego ,  sometimes I am cooking according to the family’s wishes. What’s this yaar ? Am I here to live according to Duniya ?? There comes this song to relieve me , motivate me and make me happy . If not possible everyday , let me be Matlabi once in a while. Let me do what just My heart wishes, something that I really like , which brings the real smile to my soul. The son
