Myla and her son --a story #Momology

Under #Momology participation , Today I choose a picture prompt and try my hands on fiction .

Playing with maps was their favourite game .  Right from his early childhood when other kids just learn A for Apple and B for ball , Arjuna tried to learn A for Australia  also along with A for apple (and ofcourse A for Arjun too) ,  B for Belgium  also in addition to  B for Ball . Credit to his mommy Myla .  Arjuna’s  father was working with an international travel agency and had to visit different countries off and on .  Arjuna  used to feel so happy  when  Myla  would  show him  the current  location of his Dad on the world map.

“Mommy , Dad is not so far from us , see it’s such a small distance . Let’s go to him” Moving  his little fingers over the map , he would try to measure the distance between him and his Dad and also judge the time to reach there .

“Baby , it’s small only on this map. Otherwise it is very far . We will have to go by aeroplane “

Myla  would smile athis innocence when he would bring his toy aeroplane and drag it on the map“Shooooooo……” to reach his Dad’s location . Seeing this , she would engulf himin  arms and her heart would whisper manyblessings for him.

Arjuna – as his name said , Myla would often tell him the stories of the Warrior Arjuna from the epic Mahabharta . She wanted her son to act  brave, fearless and focused in life . The little child even remembered few stories by heart now .

When he had scribbled his own name Arjuna on the bedroom wall , his mom wrote ‘The Warrior’ in front of it .

 Arjuna – The Warrior

Arjuna was growing up day by day but   Playing with maps had become  his evergreen love .  He had memorized names of many countries and would often challenge his mom whose brain stored more names .  Many times he won too , may be Myla  felt happy to  lose against her son.

Today was Arjun’s birthday . He had grown up quite much to start understanding the  things ,Myla thought . And she herself was tired of the game of maps . Today when he opened the world map and enquired about his Dad’s present location to shooooo his aeroplane  , Myla  gathered the courage and said “ Dear Arjuna , this game of maps and your Dad is all fake . Your Dad played a game with me eight years ago. He just left leaving you in my tummy .”

“Can you consider me both as your mom and Dad  , my dear child”

To her surprise , Arjuna threw away his toy aeroplane and jumped in his mom’s lap to exchange a tight hug .

Next morning when Myla  woke up , what she saw was that the name Arjuna on the wall was striked through to change it to Myla .

Arjuna Myla -The Warrior

Do Warriors suffer their pain silently ? Myla thought looking at the wall

My take :
Motherhood is for the warriors . Apart from giving birth to a child , she struggles on daily basis , be for her child or her family , sacrificing herself many times . Her heart is an ocean of love , but she has the power to act brave, bold and fearless too. Only the real courageous possess all these qualities together .

I came across a poem on ‘Warrior Mom’ on medium.com whose few lines I loved . They were like :

I figured out why I wore armor ;it held me up at the end of the day

I don’t cook , I can’t sew but I learned I could fight

I ditched the armor but kept the shield

through sweat and tears and years of no sleep

A letter to my Kitchen

Being a woman i also spend lot of time in my kitchen whether full heartedly , half heartedly or not at all heartedly . But in any case i have to go in my kitchen off and on . Today I feel like writing a letter to my kitchen. Dear Kitchen    Hope you are living a fulfilling life with all your jars filled to the brim with wheat , rice , pulses , sugar , tea ,coffee and cookies . I also hope that your sinks are now empty and clean unlike the last month when maid was on leave . Those days ,your sinks used to be piled up with utensils and it stinked so badly .  Dear kitchen , it's been around seventeen years that i am taking care of you . Now you are grown up as a teenager and so you should learn to be responsible and maintain your hygiene .  It feels good when my family agrees on khichdi and your cooker does the job   in  just one whistle . But you just don't cooperate when they demand Chole Bhature and you also start giving me tantrums . Remember ho...

Zoozoozoo : A journey

Today is Sunday ,  May 1st 2022 and yesterday i was invited to my daughter's school to witness a small function.  My daughter Suhani was born in 2007 and the day clearly flashes in front of my eyes when she got on to the auditorium stage for her first annual function during her LKG class . I had dressed her up in a beautiful purple frock . The auditorium echoed  with the sounds of claps as the team LKG stepped on to the stage and took their positions as couples . Their teacher had blushed  everyone's cheeks pink and golden. The song started 'Zoozoozoo......we welcome you ......' and the kiddos started twisting their hips and legs holding on to their partners . Awww...it was such an adorable performance that a mother couldn't control her tears .  Watching some  kids who forgot their dance steps and wanted to just run here and there on the stage was fun too !  Yesterday was the day when she again marched  on to the auditorium,  this time ...

Uplift your mood

My evening today was not good . I was doing all domestic chores in a  burdened way. I tried watching some  movie but it couldn't interest me . One of my colleagues called to intimate me of  some upcoming duty. That further pressurized my bad  mood . I wore my shoes , put on my headphones and got ready for a walk . After walking for around half an hour and listening to old bollywood , my feet took me towards the splash pool where children were enjoying . I removed my shoes and sat there at the edge of the pool dipping my feet into the water. Watching me , one of my friends also came and sat along . Both of us sat for quite  long on the edge of pool - chatting and dabbling our toes in the water. This cooled my mind and uplifted my mood .  You need to find  your own ways to uplift your mood as and when required . Music , Dance ,Good food , Laughing , shopping ,picnic ,  playing any sport you like , painting , talking to someone , chanting a man...
