Mehanga Gift

It was world health day yesterday . So  first i  thought of writing about being grateful for my health . As #BlogchatterA2Z writing challenge is going on and it's the turn of letter G today so G for Grateful pretty goes well . But then i found the 'Grateful' idea to be boring for today so after a lot of speculation  the idea of writing about a special Gift elated me . G for Gift is quite exciting . Isn't it ?

 So here's my story :

Actually It has been 17 years of my marriage and for the last 16 years my hubby has never gifted me anything on my birthdays or anniversaries . No doubt i ask for it everytime and you know what he replies everytime ' Abhi to diya tha itna mehnga gift ! '

To chalo kuch saal peeche chalte hain ....when i was doing my postgraduation . I used to see some of the the girls spending lots of time on dresses and make-up ; I also used to see their boyfriends waiting for them outside the hostel to take them out for an evening . And on the dinner table those girls used to talk of the gifts they got from those nice evenings .

Hum the science wale studious  or should i say dumbo .....not being able to differentiate even  between a mascara and eyeshadow . But dil to paagal hai .......i.also used to dream when will a prince come and take me on his bike and like other girls i would also flaunt a gift .

Well  few years passed ; I finished my studies and started with a job in a school but no Shahrukh came playing mandolin for me as in DDLJ except my dad occasionally coming to pick me up from my school on his Vespa scooter .

Time passed and my marriage was fixed ( arranged marriage ofcourse) After the engagement day i could feel some love vibes in the air  . There was no whatsapp or facebook, just a landline at home . He once called on our  landline and took my Dad's permission to take me out for an evening the next day . That date was at the excuse of shopping for marriage . But we went to a park and talked for hours amidst the soft musical fountains . In a sudden moment he took out from his jacket a box beautifully wrapped in red and also there was a red rose along with it . Awwwww…that moment was so romantic . I wished he could bend too on his knees !!!!! I opened the gift with an adrenaline rush in my heart and Wow …It was a phone …..It was a Nokia mobile phone ……you know that old tik tik  phone which used to have  that snake game ....yes that phone  – it was the  first phone of my life and it was that Mehnga Gift my husband has been reiterating all these years .....

  1. I think it was the preciousness of the moment that was priceless. And of course in early mobile days, having a mobile itself was a luxury!
Glad to connect with you Monika after a long long while.

Zoning out and other tips to free your mind

Red zone , orange zone , green zone , we all are familiar with these terms now-a-days . The district where I live has been declared as a red zone . Red zone is the zone where there are quite a large number of cases of Corona virus infection and it stands a chance to spread rapidly . Orange zone is where there are few cases and it can be controlled with few efforts . Green zone is the one where there’s no virus infection as yet and we want it to remain a green zone . The same concept applies to our thoughts . Sometimes the life becomes a real struggle – there are conflicts with family , pressures at workplace , parenting burdens , health troubles , and there accompany them the stressful  emotions -frustration , anger , sadness , hatred , self-neglect , and many more . When such emotions pile up in your mind , you need to become very careful of your thoughts as your mind has entered a red zone . You have to work on your thoughts so as to avoid potential of community outbreak o...

Theme Reveal #BlogchatterA2Z 2022

I started my blog five years ago and my blogging journey during these five years has gone through many twists and turns . I started my blog on self hosted wordpress site , learnt lot many technical aspects like DA ,  SEO and latram patram .....Blogchatter has been a constant friend ( plus a big support) since then ....I have  successfully participated in  #BlogchatterA2Z three times .....and wrote two ebooks too during the process . All this was quite exciting you know as I got to understand a bit of creative side of writing , made some new blogger friends , and became a proud AUTHOR of two ebooks .  In 2018 my theme was #Astitva where I wrote about various stigmas faced by a woman in our society . In 2019 I wrote under the theme #Prerna where I uploaded  some inspirational posts . In 2020 all my blogposts were related to the life of middle aged women (as that was the time I had just stepped into my forties ) . That was the time I came up with the book 'The Silv...

A letter to my Kitchen

Being a woman i also spend lot of time in my kitchen whether full heartedly , half heartedly or not at all heartedly . But in any case i have to go in my kitchen off and on . Today I feel like writing a letter to my kitchen. Dear Kitchen    Hope you are living a fulfilling life with all your jars filled to the brim with wheat , rice , pulses , sugar , tea ,coffee and cookies . I also hope that your sinks are now empty and clean unlike the last month when maid was on leave . Those days ,your sinks used to be piled up with utensils and it stinked so badly .  Dear kitchen , it's been around seventeen years that i am taking care of you . Now you are grown up as a teenager and so you should learn to be responsible and maintain your hygiene .  It feels good when my family agrees on khichdi and your cooker does the job   in  just one whistle . But you just don't cooperate when they demand Chole Bhature and you also start giving me tantrums . Remember ho...
