The Silver Lined Mommy - a book for middle aged women

‘The Silver Lined Mommy’

It is an eBook which is a self-help book for middle aged women. A woman plays many roles –  wife , mother , daughter and a daughter-in-law . She handles endless responsibilities being a home-maker and a care-taker for her family . Amid all this , a woman’s personal priorities somehow take a back seat . And as she  steps into  the middle age group of her life i.e. around the age of forty , she notices some changes in her body and mind too . Fine wrinkles start appearing , hair start changing  their color to grey , some extra hair growth on face or may be some weight-gain  . She starts to meet a  little different woman  in the mirror. The middle age group also brings some hormone problems which may cause stress .

From the author of ‘The Silver Lined Mommy’

Hi ! I am Monika Davessar – author of the  eBook ‘The Silver Lined Mommy’. I am running in my forties and by profession I am working as a lecturer for the last 19 years. Writing has become my interest for the last three years –thanks to my blog and the blogging community which keeps pushing me . In April 2020 I participated in a month long blogging challenge run by #Blogchatter in which I chose the theme of ‘Mommy’ and I wrote about A to Z of how a woman should embrace herself rather celebrate herself  amid the business of  playing all mommy  responsibilities .

My own age and experiences became the power factor behind my blogging theme . I do notice changes in myself as I am going through the forty age group . Some stress factors , some changes in body and few health troubles . But I embrace all these with a smile.

The  selected  best posts of ‘Mommy’ blogging theme have been organized with some additional appealing  content to form the book ‘The Silver Lined Mommy’

What you can find in the book  ‘The Silver Lined Mommy’

“The glow of the face  that is gradually fading  , the hair which are turning silver and the fine wrinkles who have started smiling near the eyes of a woman ; are all the signs not of decay but of growth – growth to a better state of being”  – Monika Davessar , author of ‘The Silver Lined Mommy’

Today I feel like writing a letter to my kitchen. Dear Kitchen    Hope you are living a fulfilling life with all your jars filled to the brim with wheat , rice , pulses , sugar , tea ,coffee and cookies . I also hope that your sinks are now empty and clean unlike the last month when maid was on leave . Those days ,your sinks used to be piled up with utensils and it stinked so badly .  Dear kitchen , it's been around seventeen years that i am taking care of you . Now you are grown up as a teenager and so you should learn to be responsible and maintain your hygiene .  It feels good when my family agrees on khichdi and your cooker does the job   in  just one whistle . But you just don't cooperate when they demand Chole Bhature and you also start giving me tantrums . Remember ho...

Why do I write ?

I have been writing a blog for the last five years and many times people question me why do i write . Well ! I don't have an exact answer . But whenever someone has asked me this question ' Why do you write ?' i have answered in the form of some question only like 'Why do you go shopping ?' or 'Why do you love to  go  on vacation?'  Actually the basic answer is that it feels good . It makes me happy , contented and also a little proud of myself . The feeling when i boasted about being an author is incomparable . May be you don't read me but I keep writing for myself - to reflect on my life experiences and learn from them. Earlier i used to feel depressed when people didn't read me but now it's just between me and my blog . Writing  helps me connect to my creative side and helps increase my vocabulary also. Writing provides an escape when reality becomes too complex. I like to write because it allows me to focus on a subject  and helps me relieve...
