Cooking is like an essential qualification to be a woman . Whether you are a SAHM or a working woman , you have to be skilled in cooking . You may have faced the questions  like ‘Khana banana aata hai na?’ or the exclamatory comments like ‘What ? You don’t know how to cook !’ during the period when parents were searching a matrimonial  match for you . People make you feel like you are incomplete without this skill .

Time , experience , hit-n-trial, mistakes , transform you into the  skilled chef of your own family . Everybody looks towards you many times a day to satisfy their hunger  . Not just basic hunger ,you have to take care of their emotional hunger too .

Everyday there is a big question your own mind asks – Aaj kya banaun ? or they may ask ‘ Aaj kya bnaya hai ?

Whatever work you are doing or wherever you are , the kind of  thoughts  which are  always at the back of your mind are :

What my  husband or children would like to eat today ?

What’s to be given in their tiffins ?

Which healthy dish should I prepare for them ?

You search for recipes on youtube , consult your friends and even experiment  on your own too .

But many of the times you make compromises cooking your  own choices . With utmost family care on your mind , you forget taking care of yourself . You almost never cook the food which only you like . You are busy cooking the items which your family enjoys .

Don’t make compromises cooking your own choices . Adopt cooking as self-care formula .

Today’s life is busy and  stressed . Many times you end up stress-eating too  . You are continually working  at home or office , cleaning your home , managing kitchen /grocery , taking care of family needs and what not . Amidst all this it’s very important to practice self-care  .

Start to Practice self-care from your kitchen .

Cook your own choices too  .

You are messing up in the kitchen without worrying about the little cuts or burns .

You are cooking varieties to make others happy . But what about your own happiness ? Who will take care of that ? Nobody except you .  Just remember this .

Please don’t put your own choices on a back burner . Make your own eating choices a  priority .

Only when you care for yourself , that you can care for others in a better way . After  your own taste buds are  happy , that you can make others’  happy too .

Bodies  of Women over 40 demand special nutrition

Once women  are around  the age of 40 , their  bodies  need special nutrients which the other family members may not need . Keeping your health needs on top of the list , you should spend some extra special time for yourself in the kitchen .

Make turmeric milk to complete the need of body calcium or those joint aches that have started appearing .

Make special grandma style pinnis in winter to take care of your backache troubles .

Take enough fibre , proteins in your diet and never skip breakfast . You have to take care of your  metabolism that starts slowing down over 40 .

Cooking just for yourself may be  time-consuming but it’s the best gift you can give yourself

Women often don’t cook their own choices because they think it doubles their kitchen work . But the effort you put in for your own choices is worth. You may want to follow a diet plan for fitness but often leave the idea aside as you would have to cook separately just for yourself . But don’t forget how  the end results would fill you with joy .This is the best gift you can give yourself . Go and start following the diet plan you have wanting for so long .

I am a die hard fan of mushrooms and nobody in my family eats even a bite of it . Earlier I never used to buy mushrooms for my kitchen and wait for the family to take me to a restaurant on someone’s birthday or anniversary . But now I always add mushrooms in my weekly vegetable list .   I cook them just for myself . Mushrooms benefit me with vitamins , antioxidants and I feel happy too . Aur kya chahiye  ? So cook your own choices , enjoy your food and also improve your health .

Everybody needs those moments when you do something just for yourself . I know you love your family , your children very much but you know :

Putting  yourself first is  the need for your own physical and emotional balance . It’s a kind of meditation every woman should practice .

Women always want to look graceful , clean face , no darkness , zero wrinkles , slim body type , smooth hair , and what not . Make a banana-oats-honey scrub for your face  , prepare goond laddu to boost your stamina , or just make the yoghurt pudding to make yourself feel special . What I mean to say is that please please! You are the queen of your family . You must take very special care of yourself .  Don’t neglect yourself .  Self-care is very important in life . Find your own ways of practicing cooking as self-care .

Zoozoozoo : A journey

 Today is Sunday ,  May 1st 2022 and yesterday i was invited to my daughter's school to witness a small function.  My daughter Suhani was born in 2007 and the day clearly flashes in front of my eyes when she got on to the auditorium stage for her first annual function during her LKG class . I had dressed her up in a beautiful purple frock . The auditorium echoed  with the sounds of claps as the team LKG stepped on to the stage and took their positions as couples . Their teacher had blushed  everyone's cheeks pink and golden. The song started 'Zoozoozoo......we welcome you ......' and the kiddos started twisting their hips and legs holding on to their partners . Awww...it was such an adorable performance that a mother couldn't control her tears .  Watching some  kids who forgot their dance steps and wanted to just run here and there on the stage was fun too !  Yesterday was the day when she again marched  on to the auditorium,  this time ...
