Summers are very harsh in the months of June-July in India . With a temperature around 44 degree here in North , it becomes tough to struggle with heat , sweat , pollution , humidity . It becomes essential to take extra special care of yourself . I follow some simple tips which make me comfortable during this scorching heat in summer season .
- Exfoliate and Tone your skin
Do use a good scrub for your face and body as a scrub helps to get rid of old skin cells and prepare for new ones . This is exfoliation . It helps to keep your skin youthful and glowing . You should do it at least twice a week . Grab a skin scrub for yourself today only .
On daily basis , after cleansing your skin with a mild facewash or cleanser , use a toner which helps maintain pH level of your skin and also reduces penetration of any more dirt in your skin . I use Aroma Magic toner which I am able to just spray on my face and feel fresh & hydrated in summer .
2. Sunscreen
A sunscreen is a must for summer . Look for a sunscreen with good SPF and use it 15-20 minutes before you step out of home . And please don’t use your last year’s sunscreen as it won’t be as effective to block sun’s UV rays .
3. Rose water
Rose water is a natural cleanser , it helps cleansing dirt off your skin and also soothes the redness caused on skin due to the intense heat . Keep a bowl of rose water in your refrigerator and use the chilled cleanser on your face off and on .You can also use a cotton dab dipped in rose water on your eyes too for a cooling effect . It will absorb all your summer stress away .
4. Intake more of liquids and Detox yourself
When it comes to hydrating yourself well in summers you shouldn’t look for canned juices or soft drinks as they are not at all healthy . You should go for desi juices and shakes – like lemon water , lassi ( sweet or salted ) , home made mango shake , sugarcane juice , home made jaljeera . All these drinks are very tasty , healthy and cost effective too . I personally love to have salted lassi with lunch and jaljeera in the evening .
Flush out Toxins from body with Detox water
Detox water is a great way to have plenty of water and also the benefits of fruits along with it . This is how I make my detox water – Dip few slices of lemon , ginger and cucumber in water along with a pinch of mint powder or fresh mint leaves . Let it soak overnight . The next morning ,detox drink is ready . Consume it whole day and you can refill the bottle with more water as it is about to finish .Detox water is a great way to flush out toxins from body plus it helps you consume more water , thanks to its flavor . You can add your own variant of fruits in the water – may be watermelon , apple or strawberry . Enjoy your own taste.
5. Have lots of summer fruits
The summer brings along many juicy fruits with it . God has plans for everything you know . Melons , watermelons , Mangoes , litchi , Peach , Apricot . You must have plenty of these daily in variation .
Watermelon is not just water and sugar . It is a nutrient rich food and you end up getting almost zero calories . Litchi contains good amount of antioxidants which help you look younger you know . You may google for detailed benefits . The point is that you must have lots of summer fruits.
Except these tips , cover yourself well before you go out to face the angry sun , use good sunglasses , a hat /scarf or may be an umbrella .
