The Place I Love : Valley of GODS
Whenever i am asked about a place i love , what immediately comes into my mind is KULLU VALLEY , which is in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India . I am basically a Punjabi girl who got married in Himachal Pradesh . My husband belongs to Kullu . He was born and brought up there and has a lot of memories attached to that place .
💥
Hills , Rivers and nature has always fascinated me and it was really exciting to have got married in the nature’s lap.
💥
Kullu is a district in Himachal , lies in the lap of ranges of Himalayas . This valley is located around the banks of the river named Beas , and is surrounded by high mountains on all sides .The valley is famous for serene landscapes, clean water streams, waterfalls , apple orchards and a great diversity of nature. It just seems like heaven at night when the sky has a carpet of twinkling stars and you are feeling those chilly winds . Kullu is also known as valley of Gods.
💥
To the north of Kullu lies the town Manali which gives you the way to Lahaul and Spiti valley via the Rohtang pass. Manali is a famous destination for tourists , as it offers a lot of snow points . If you love water n waterfalls then Manali has a lovely destination to offer you , that is Jogini Falls. It is a wonderful place where u can enjoy watching nature’s beauty and have fun playing in water. I visited this place in June 2017 and had an unforgettable experience.
💥
There are lot of destinations in and around Kullu which can be explored. Some of them are Manikaran, Solang valley, Vashisht , Kasol, Mallana, Bijli Mahadev , etc.
💥
You can enjoy a vide variety ranging from hot water springs to shivering cold water of the Rivers. There is a lot you can do if you enjoy trekking or paragliding .
I love the place Bijli Mahadev , although my husband took me there only once. It is one of the sacred Lord Shiva temple in Kullu. You have to trek 4-5km to reach here. It is believed that every year , when there is lightning in the sky , the Shivalinga in the temple shatters and then the priests again restore it by binding with butter. The best scenic views can be experienced from the top of that hill where the temple is located.
💥
Kullu is famous for its Dussehra festival. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil . Huge number of tourists , national and international , come to witness this festival. Kullu has hundreds of villages merged inside . Every village has its own Devi or Devta whom they worship. Few representatives from every village bring their Devi or Devta on the wonderfully decorated Palkis to the main Lord Rama temple (Raghunath temple) , and then starts the procession across the town . The local bands and other instruments played by local people clad in local colourful dresses makes it a mesmerizing experience.
And Yes, Kullu is famous for its woolen clothes too , especially hand made shawls.
💥
I am yet to explore many destinations in and around Kullu . But I want to say in the end that it’s a place one should definitely travel to . It will definitely leave impressions on your heart forever .
